Thursday Squared Food Truck Rally – Held the second Thursday of each month around Munn Park from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, people flock to the 20+ gourmet food trucks to buy dinner then enjoy it picnic style in the park. Often, there is entertainment and activities accompanying the great food.
May 5–Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides 5K Walk For 30 years, Great Strides–The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event–has supported the Foundation’s mission to cure Cystic Fibrosis and raise awareness for this rare, genetic, life-shortening disease that makes it difficult to breathe and shortens lives. Registration is free, but walkers are encouraged to raise funds. Check in at 10, walk at 11a, Location: Munn Park.
May 11–Pops by the Lake Sponsored by Southern Homes–This fun, family-friendly outdoor concert presented by the Imperial Symphony Orchestra is held on the Frances Langford Promenade at Lake Mirror on the Friday before Mother’s Day each year. 8p-10p. Free.
May 12-13–MidFlorida’s Mayfaire by the Lake–Began as a crafts fair on the lawn of the Lakeland Public Library, MIDFLORIDA Mayfair by-the-Lake has grown into one of Florida’s premier outdoor art festivals. Held on Mother’s Day Weekend each year, Mayfaire is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Morton in Downtown Lakeland. Mayfaire is one of the largest, oldest, and most prestigious outdoor art festivals in Central Florida. www.mayfairebythelake.org 9a-4p Lake Morton Free.
May 19–10th Annual Night at the Museum Explorations V Children’s Museum–A very special grown-up evening event full of food, drink, music, games, and fun! 7p-10p EXPLORATIONSV.COM $75 Admission.
June 2–World Record–Hundreds of dancers attempting to break the official world record for most ballet dancers on pointe at the same time. 10a-2p. www.worldrecordfest.com Free.
June 16 –4th Annual Polk Pride Festival–Pride in the park will feature vendors from various LGBT-Friendly organizations, food trucks, community service organizations, and live entertainment. Munn Park. 10a-3p. polkpridefl.com
July 1–Miss Florida Scholarship Pageant–An official Miss America preliminary event hosted at the Lakeland Center. Want to meet the Contestants? They will be downtown for a meet-and-greet on Saturday, June 23, as guests of various shops and restaurants throughout Downtown. Come meet royalty! 11a-1p.
July 3–Red, White, & Kaboom!–The celebration will take place with live music at Lake Mirror along the Frances Langford Promenade in Lakeland, ending with a breathtaking fireworks display dazzling the crowd at 9p. A variety of food trucks. Sponsored by T. Mims Corp/Buyers Rep. Inc. 6p-9p Free.
August 18-19–Fine Art at the Magnolia–A new rising invitational fine art show held annually in August in Lakeland. Showcasing 17 accomplished artists from across the state in a stunningly beautiful, 2-day fine art show held inside the lovely historic Magnolia Building, 702 East Orange Street, in Downtown Lakeland’s garden and theater district.
