The City of Lakeland and the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority have teamed up to bring you Friday Night Live – A free live music series each Friday evening in Munn Park beginning at 6pm. Bring your own chairs and blankets to sit on in the park, and enjoy the ambiance. See the music lineup for the Spring series below.
May 13 – Big Chill
The Big Chill Band is a group of six musicians from the Polk county area. All members have actively worked in the music industry for up to four decades each. The band performs a large variety of eclectic music, including classic rock, Motown, funk, disco, country and hits from today. A high energy group, with a great horn vibe, helps to create a dynamic sound with professional flair. Rich Mistretta, the lead guitarist, also performs vocals and has been a professional musician for over 25 years. A strong and solid musician, Rich has a calm demeanor but always ready with a comedic quip. Barry Price, drummer and lead vocalist, has been performing in Lakeland almost his entire life. Barry is best known for his high tenor vocals. Ben Crider plays keyboards and percussion for the band and also sings lead and backup vocals. Ben is a stickler for detail and really pays attention to the sound quality. Bill Kennedy plays bass guitar and backup vocals. Bill has been performing for decades as well. He regularly entertains the band with his keen knowledge of music history and is a bit of a music trivia buff. Rick Runion plays horns for the band. Teacher by day, horn player by night, Rick adds a unique energy and sound. Lisa Butler is the lead vocalist and founder of the Big Chill. Lisa’s background is in TV and musical theater and has been a professional singer for almost 40 years. The Big Chill Band loves to give back to our community. They are available for charity events and private events and to perform at musical venues in the area.
