Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday in Downtown Lakeland as First Friday returns on Friday, July 3 with a special Picnic in the Park theme—perfectly timed alongside the beloved Red, White & Kaboom at Lake Mirror.

Swansemble is bringing the sounds of patriotic favorites, big band, swing, and jazz to Munn Park as part of Picnic in the Park! Swansemble is a Lakeland-based jazz ensemble led by Dorian Cruz, performing an eclectic mix of jazz standards, contemporary jazz, funk, and improvisational favorites. Their performances blend exceptional musicianship with an energetic, approachable style that appeals to both dedicated jazz fans and casual listeners.
Founded in 2020 by Lakeland natives Dorian Cruz and Devin Holt, the Swansemble Jazz Orchestra is a full big band made up of musicians from more than ten schools across Central Florida. Under Dorian Cruz as Artistic Director and Executive Director Devin Holt, the ensemble performs a wide range of music, including swing, Latin jazz, funk, and contemporary big band charts. Since its founding, Swansemble has grown into a collaborative organization that brings together high school, college, and community musicians from across the region to perform challenging music in a professional setting.
